This intensive Graduate Certificate course provides the specialized and integrated technical and theoretical knowledge required to plan, assess, and manage civil construction projects while controlling costs, minimizing risk, and maximizing safety.
The Graduate Certificate in Civil Construction Management is a high-level postgraduate program that draws on a carefully designed blend of classic principles along with current developments in construction management to provide practical and advanced knowledge with a vocational or “job related” focus.
With the emphasis on career outcomes, you will develop practical skills and knowledge that can be applied to the workplace. Applicants will have accrued civil construction engineering experience in industry and are probably already working in supervisory or management roles (or will be in future).
The program may also appeal to individuals who are currently working in the construction industry but want to broaden their skill set or specialize in management, and to employers who require staff with management expertise in the industry.
On completion of this course, you will be able to demonstrate specialized knowledge with considerable depth in the following topics concerning civil construction management: core principles, the processes, systems, and strategies that can be applied, managing the elements of design, costing, planning, risk, and safety.
As an advanced practitioner you will develop industry-focused, practical expertise that can be implemented at your workplace. Management of civil engineering projects can be a complex and dynamic role – this course aims to provide you with the tools so that you can meet the challenges with success.
The Graduate Certificate is an intensive part-time program, delivered over six months. The program is composed of four units as per below:
Unit 1 – Principles and Processes of Civil Construction Management (GCMPPC801)
Unit 1 – Systems and Strategies in Civil Construction (GCMSST802)
Unit 3 – Management of Design, Costing and Planning in Civil Construction (GCMMDC803)
Unit 4 – Risk and Safety Management in Civil Construction (GCMRSM804)
This program is designed to meet the specialized needs of industry.
The participants emerge from the course able to demonstrate specialized and integrated technical and theoretical knowledge required to develop viable mechatronic solutions.
Specifically, graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Civil Construction Management will be able to:
This is an advanced program designed for individuals who may already have a relevant undergraduate qualification or higher. If you lack this, you must show relevant and substantial experience in the subject area (subject to the approval of the Dean) combined with evidence of continuing professional development. The program involves depth and complexity in varied specialized contexts.
Applicants must have completed at least a 3-year Bachelor degree in engineering, science or technology or equivalent in a related field; OR
