Step 1: Strike a Pose

Step 2: Post on Social Media 

  • Add caption on how it relates to engineering.  
  • Use #EITPhotoChallenge and tag EIT.  
  • Share on Instagram, LinkedIn or Facebook. 

Step 3: Wait for Winner Announcement 

  • Winner selected by EIT, based on creativity, originality, and impact.  
  • The competition closes 5:00pm (Australian Western Standard Time) 1 August 2024.

Requirements & Terms and Conditions

Below are the requirements to enter the competition:

  • The photo MUST relate back to engineering, whether on or off site, at your desk or by a piece of equipment.
  • Entrants must elaborate on how their photo relates to the field of engineering in their photo caption and provide context if necessary.
  • Recently taken photos only, winners will be required to share proof of the date of when the photo was taken to ensure fairness for all participants.
  • Entrant must appear in the photo. Photos of just equipment will not be considered.

  • Follow EIT on at least one platform. This includes, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok.
  • Use the hashtag #EITPhotoChallenge for your submission to be considered.

  • High-quality photos only. (Anything from your smartphone to your fancy camera will be suffice!)
  • No blurry images will be accepted into the competition.

  • 1st place: AUD $2000
  • 2nd place: AUD $1500
  • 3rd place: AUD $1000

  • Entry is open to all current and graduate students at the Engineering Institute of Technology (“EIT”) during the competition duration.
  • Entry to the competition is free.
  • The competition opens on 7 May 2024 and closes 5:00pm (Australian Western Standard Time) 1 August 2024. Entries received outside these dates will not be eligible for judging.
  • Entries must be submitted by following EIT on at least one platform including Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn. Use the hashtag #EITPhotoChallenge to enable your submission to be considered.
  • Photographs must relate to the theme of engineering, whether on or off site, at your desk or including a piece of equipment.
  • Photographs must be the entrant’s original work and must not have been previously published.
  • Entrants must provide a caption on how their photo relates to the field of engineering in their photograph and provide any necessary context.
  • Photographs must have been taken within the last 12 months and winners will be required to provide proof of the date when the photograph was taken.
  • The entrant must appear in the photograph. Photographs which include other people must have consent from the person(s) photographed and noted by the entrant at the time of entry submission.
  • Entries must not contain content, which is unlawful, inappropriate, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane or racially offensive. It is EIT’s absolute discretion to deem an entry unsuitable.
  • Photographs must not include any digital filters or generated by using artificial intelligence.
  • Photographs must be high resolution digital images of a minimum of 300ppi in quality. Photographs files must be in the JPEG or PNG format.
  • Photograph files must not exceed 5MB.
  • One entry is permitted per person and the photograph must not infringe upon any third person rights.
  • Entries will be judged by a panel of five people comprised of the Dean, three members of EIT staff and someone within the photography field.
  • Winners will be decided by the panel, with their decisions being final. Panelists will declare if any entrants are known to them prior to the start of judging.
  • Three prizes will be awarded: First place (AUD$2,000), Second place (AUD$1,500) and Third Place (AUD$1,000).
  • Entrants grant EIT a non-exclusive worldwide license to use their photographs for promotional purposes. Photographs submitted may be used and published by EIT at its sole discretion in formats including but not limited to reports, websites, social media and promotional items.
  • EIT shall be entitled to keep all entries and is under no obligation to return any entries to the entrants.
  • Winners will be notified by email by Wednesday 31st August 2024 and announced publicly through EIT’s website and social media platforms.
