Kicking off the series is the conference hosted by IDC Technologies on “Static Electricity in Hazardous Area Workplaces: Ensuring Safety and Compliance,” scheduled for 9 August 2024.
Held at the Parmelia Hilton Perth from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm AWST, this event will address critical safety measures and compliance standards related to static electricity in industrial settings.

Following closely on 14 August 2024, is a specialized workshop focusing on “Practical Financial Fundamentals and Project Investment Decision Making.”
This one-day face-to-face workshop held at 6 Thelma Street, West Perth will be followed by two, 1.5 hour live and online webinars, on the same topic.

The presenter: Branden Dekenah
Branden is an experienced entrepreneur and consultant specializing in technology, business strategy, and digital transformation. He co-founded Conducive in 2006, merged it with Empired (now Cap Gemini), and launched Interfuze in 2018. With a diverse background in ICT, transportation, healthcare, and finance, Branden now leads Sangoma Consulting in Perth and serves as a non-executive director for local businesses. He holds an Honours Degree in Commerce, Diplomas in Engineering and Computer Science, and an MBA from Curtin University, and is affiliated with the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management.
This two-day workshop will be running on 21 & 22 August 2024 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm SAST at Waterfall Office Park, Bekker Road, Midrand, South Africa. The workshop will explore advanced principles and design techniques crucial for power system protection.
The presenter: Jerry Walker
After completing his National Higher Diploma in Engineering (Electrical) in 1986 and spending almost 23 years in industry, Prof. Walker joined Vaal Triangle Technikon – now known as Vaal University of Technology (VUT) as a lecturer in the Department of Power Engineering. In 1996 he completed his BTech degree and in 1997 started with post graduate studies, specializing in diagnostic testing of XLPE-insulated cables. In 2004 Prof Walker completed his DTech degree at VUT. Title of his Doctoral thesis: “Diagnostic Evaluation of Water Tree Aged XLPE-Insulated Cables”. In 2005 he was appointed as Associate Professor at VUT and then as Head, Institute for High Voltage Studies. He retired from VUT in 2006.
Looking ahead to the 25 & 26 September 2024, EIT will host another essential two-day workshop titled “Grounding, Bonding, and Lightning Protection“. Taking place at Waterfall Office Park, Bekker Road, Midrand, South Africa from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm SAST.
This workshop will provide comprehensive insights into effective grounding, bonding, and lightning protection strategies.
Attendees will be able to claim CPD points for this workshop.
The presenter: Avril Adendorff, Engineering Consultant
Avril Adendorff is an engineering consultant, with over 38 years of experience ranging from Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC), electrical, power quality, earthing of utilities, substation earthing and pumps. 24 years ago, Avril invented and built the unifridge which is currently being used and studied in many universities in South Africa.
