This presentation will provide an overview of the general design approach and updates to two key standards relating to external lighting design: AS/NZS 1158 and AS/NZS 4282. These standards cover external lighting design as well as obtrusive effects of external lighting, which is highly prevalent in public and residential spaces. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles guiding external lighting design and how to effectively manage obtrusive lighting.

The session will also cover the latest updates to these Australian Standards, ensuring participants are well-versed in current regulations and best practices. By the end of the presentation, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge to implement efficient and compliant lighting solutions in various settings.

Alexandra Gregory, EIT Lecturer and AECOM Principal Electrical Engineer

Alex Gregory is a Princpal Electrical Engineer within AECOM Design Consultancy in Brisbane and has worked as a lead design engineer, managing contractor and project manager across a variety of projects in the Building Industry. Her project coverage is broad and includes Defence, Commercial, Government, Cultural and Healthcare industries.

Within this role, Alex has completed many electrical designs for building services branching across small power, lighting and power infrastructure.
